            Wai wai, don’t we just love it? We have been enjoying these instant packets of deliciousness from the days when we were toddlers. Even our parents have fond memories of filling those packets with Wai wai and munching on them between classes. 

        This legendary instant noodle is a product from the CG group who have established a strong foundation as a well-recognized company of Nepal. Known for the lip-smacking and yummy taste in which it could be readied, Wai Wai noodles are arranged in the various assortment and are likewise the most flavoured decision among the Asian foods. The president Binod Chaudhary is the richest person in Nepal, all thanks to Chaudhary Group(CG) and most importantly Wai wai.

HISTORY OF WAI WAI

            CG Foods is an ISO 9001:2008 certified company and formerly known as Nepal Thai Foods. It was established in 1984 in Kathmandu for manufacturing instant noodles with a capacity of 120 packets per minute in technical collaboration with Thai Preserved Food Factory, Thailand. Today it has increased in multiple folds to the capacity to 2100 packets of noodle per minute or 40,000 tonnes per year. Chaudhary Group(CG) Foods has three manufacturing locations in Nepal which have been named as CG Food Pack (CGFP) at Kathmandu, CG Industrial Park (CGIP) at Nawalparasi, 160 km south-west of Kathmandu and CG Food Park at Bardiya, 345 Kms west from CGIP. New factory setup is under construction in eastern Nepal.



 INSTANT NOODLES

            Wai Wai is one of the pioneering leaders in providing healthy nutrients food to all the noodles lover out there. Nonetheless, Wai Wai noodles can be prepared with some of the instant dishes as well. Wai Wai noodles have essentially been a major staple food in South Asia and Eastern India & Nepal. 1. Brown Noodles

            Wai Wai is a popular brown noodle available in 3 different flavours – Vegetable, Chicken & Tom Yum.                 Wai Wai Aloo Tama is white noodles (2 Seasonings) 85 gm the packet is available in market just for Rs.20/- only. To celebrate the traditional Nepali taste in the modern household and make the taste  of Aloo Tama popular in the young generation Wai Wai innovated to introduce the first of its kind the traditional taste in the modern-day Ready-to-eat packaged noodles.



BEATING HUNGER WITH WAI WAI

            Nepal was primarily dominated by the white noodles, Maggie in the 80s. Detecting a need for brown instant noodles in the Nepali market, Chaudhary Group tapped on the demand in 1984 with the introduction of the brown instant noodles, Wai Wai. With technical collaboration from Thai Preserved Food Factory (TPFF), Thailand. The popularity of this brand has been escalating since its introduction. Although primarily a local brand, Wai Wai is also exported to countries like India, USA, the Middle East, Hong Kong, Malaysia and Japan. It has a small share in the global market, but Wai Wai sells the most in The Middle East besides Nepal. The product is the same, but the packaging differs according to the requirements of the countries importing Wai Wai. Informing that worldwide, Wai Wai has an annual turnover of Rs 3 billion, while in Nepal it is approximately Rs 1.40 billion. 

            Wai Wai is the most affordable food product. Earlier when the noodle was introduced, it had a small market as consumer’s awareness had to be created and the noodles market back then was dominated by Maggie. Wai Wai has stood the pressure of competitions and prevailed as the best instant noodle. The reasons for securing the top position are due to its unique taste, innovation and constant upgrading that includes adopting better and safer packaging. Wai Wai was the first brand to introduce food fortification in Nepal in 2006. New flavours have been introduced. Quick, a variant of Wai Wai comes in various flavours like Schezwan chicken, Manchurian veg, Chicken curry, Veg curry, Chicken pizza and Kimchi.

WAI WAI'S DISTINCTIVE PRACTISES:

            Wai Wai Gyanodaya Scholarship – This is a scholarship scheme which was introduced in March 2009. This scheme provides scholarships to students for a period varying from one to three years in Gyanodaya School. In the fiscal year 2008/2009, 453 students were provided with this scholarship. Multi-Language Campaign – This campaign was introduced in April 2010. It spreads and promotes the message of unification of ethnic groups in Nepal.
